Plymouth, MA -- To mark the opening of baseball season, Plymouth Youth Baseball & Softball purchased one automated external defibrillator (AED) to be placed at Forges Field for the 2019 season to support the community. The device will be secured at the Jennifer Kane Snack Shack during all outdoor sporting events in the spring for PYBS in case an athlete or spectator ever suffers a cardiac arrest.
“This was a colloboration between our Safety Officer Steve Murphy and Brewster Ambulance that we hope never gets used,” said Brian Fabry, President of PYBS. "It's a minimum 10-12 minute trip for any of our first responders to get to Forges so we want to ensure that there will be an AED nearby in case of emergency."
The AED was purchased from sponsorship money collected in the PYBS signage program and there are hopes for more programs and donations to come for the community.
PYBS will now work with Brewster Ambulance on AED training along with CPR training for all PYBS personell.
